Church of San Xoán de Moreiras

Churches/Chapels

The parish church dates from the second half of the 12th century, most likely later in the century, which would make it the oldest in the municipality.

The church has a single nave with a semi-circular apse. The main doorway, which opens towards the west, has semi-circular archivolts and a plain tympanum, supported by two pairs of columns on each side, topped by simple capitals.

It also has another simple semi-circular arched doorway in the north wall, which is blinded.

It contains corbels along the cornices of the side walls.

A pointed triumphal arch serves to separate the altar and congregation areas. It houses an image of the Virgin Mary and a silver processional cross from the late 17th century.
