Historical Towns and Complex
On the banks of the rivers Sil and Miño, several settlements emerged. Initially, these were small castros or fortifications, Roman villages or medieval towns which are particularly notable from a historical and architectural perspective.
Some have been declared Historical-Artistic Sites, others are points of reference, such as the Way of St James, or boast significant cultural activity.
The College of the Piarist Fathers in Monforte, the old quarter of Chantada, or Castro Caldelas castle are just some of the attractions on offer in the Ribeira Sacra’s towns and villages.
