Estrelario Sgraffito (Gonzar, Portomarín)

Sgraffito decorations

Located on the French route of the Way of Saint James (Camino de Santiago), the intervention consisted of the creation of a new mural on a cement block support in front of the church of Gonzar, in Portomarín.

The cladding consisted of several coats of mortar, combining stone lime and hydraulic lime in the areas of greatest friction due to the narrow passageway.

A geometrical matrix appears in the background, which evolves vertically with a tonality similar to the plaster in the church. The central motif is a sgraffito of the last lunar eclipse corresponding to the start of the work, which served as a link between the craftswomen and the local residents. There is a band around the planisphere inspired by one of the borders found on the main doorway of the church of Portomarín.

This intervention was part of the project known as the Pacto pola Paisaxe na Ribeira Sacra 2020-2022.
