"Umbrella Repairers and Knife Sharpeners" Mural

They are known throughout the world for the sound of their distinctive whistle and their skills for sharpening all types of cutting tools.

The mural depicts a sharpening wheel, next to a more modern version of a knife and tool sharpener, who now makes his rounds on a bicycle, while still relying upon his whistle to notify residents of his arrival.

Although this is a profession that still persists today, many knife sharpeners from Nogueira de Ramuín moved away to practice their craft in other places, either in Spain or in other European countries, or in Latin America.
