Guímara Medieval Fair 2018
The City Council of A Pobra do Brollón celebrates this Saturday, July 7, the V edition of the Guímara Medieval Fair. Act in memory of the revolt of the neighborhoods of A Pobra against the Count of Lemos when he wanted to collect taxes to this territory, without any kind of right over him.
The men and women of Brollón resisted the troops of the Count, who finally defeated the neighborhoods. After this fact, the inhabitants of A Pobra were called "Guímaros", which means: rudes, braves and distrustful.
The festive event will begin at 11.30 a.m. with the opening speech by the writer Lois Diéguez. At 12 o'clock there will be the representation of the revolt, followed by the display of falconry and demonstration of traditional crafts that this year will focus on iron, whose exploitation was always closely linked to the City Council. At 1:00 p.m. there will be "pasacalles" in charge of the group of bagpipes "Alecrin" and at 2:00 p.m. there will be popular food in the field of the fair. To participate you must remove the cards in the restaurant Avenida.
The afternoon session will open at 5:30 p.m. with the performance of the juggler clown "Isla Letrisca". Then, you can enjoy the following activities:
· 6:30 p.m.:demonstrations of trades and traditional games will follow.
· 7:00 p.m.:archery
· 8.00 p.m.: new session of falconry.
· 9:00 p.m.:performance of the group "Euforium"
· 11.00 p.m.: end of the festival, with a popular dinner by "Queimán e Pousa".
