Pazo de Casdemiro

The lintel of the doorway bears an inscription stating that Friar Benito Jerónimo Feijóo y Montenegro was born there in 1676. The pazo also houses the wax death mask of Friar Feijoó.
Nestled in the village of Casdemiro in the parish of Sta María de Melias, this Pazo is easily reached from the N-120 (Ourense-Ponferrada).
The building was erected in the early 17th century. The pazo has undergone multiple restorations and the floor plan is therefore difficult to define. We could define it as a rectangular building with two floors and an exterior courtyard on two levels with a masonry construction.
The courtyard is enclosed by a wall on one side, where two doors open, the main one with a lintel and the other with a large round arch that gives access to the estate surrounding the building.
The single façade of interest is the main one, which is two storeys high. It has a first balcony with a sill with a frame on a rest. The windows overlooking the balcony are broken and have mullions.
The coats of arms in the pazo are as follows: Two rough stones on the lintel of the main door bearing the coats of arms of Puga and Feijoó. The centre contains an engraved M, an oval shield stamped with a quartered helmet bearing the cross and scallops of the Ribadeneiras, also with engravings of Enríquez, Taboada, Nóvoa and Sotelo.
