San Benito Romería
Every 11 July, the monastery of Santa Cristina in Ribas de Sil celebrates the feast of Saint Benedict.
The day begins with a solemn mass at mid-morning and a procession of the saint around the monastery of Santa Cristina. Afterwards, attendees usually go to the village of Castro, nearby the campsite, to continue the festivities with music and prepared dishes that they bring from home.
One distinctive element of this Romería is its annual rooster auction, whose origins remain a mystery.
