Santo Domingo da Régoa Convent

The Santo Domingo convent is in the old quarter of Monforte de Lemos, at the foot of the medieval walls. It is also a magnificent place for looking out over the town.
The convent is popularly known as San Jacinto, as this is the name of the religious order to which it belongs. Today the church is dedicated to Santo Domingo but is also known as the church of Santa María de Régoa or Régoa church. It was founded in the 17th century by the count of Lemos, Pedro Fernández de Castro, and his wife Catalina de la Cerda y Sandoval.
Inside, the high altar and the organ stand out, one of the best in Galicia, which has been perfectly preserved in spite of being 300 years old.
