A Barxa Historical Complex
The main feature is a Roman bridge. Although today this bridge is only for pedestrians, formerly it was the access road for people coming from Leon, in Castilla, to Galicia. Some remains of the medieval roadway can still be seen, as an ancient royal road passes through this area.
The bridge over the river Lor links the towns of Quiroga and A Pobra de Brollón. Its three arches are of different shapes and sizes. The biggest arch, at the southern end, is rounded and has a span of over 20 metres, something that is unusual in the ancient bridges of the north west.
Over it runs the so-called Winter Way, one of the entry points of Saint James's Way into Galicia.
An old unrestored mill and the houses attached to the bridge complete the complex.
