Arboiro Fountain

In 1932 the carver Nicanor de Arboiro made this fountain in honour of a journey in the Plus Ultra seaplane of former Spanish dictator Francisco Franco’s younger brother, the Republican pilot Ramón Franco.
Restored in 2019 by his grandson Florencio de Arboiro, also a sculptor, it features a recreation of the Plus Ultra hydroplane resting on a globe, and next to it is a clock, which was used to measure the irrigation times, so that each neighbour knew when it was their turn to use the water.
Under the clock, the tribute plaque reads: Ramón Franco fountain, its inauguration date, 1 May 1932, and the initials L.R.A. (Lista Republicana Anticlerical) for the Republican Anti-Clerical List.
It has two spouts, fed by two different springs, and the complex is completed with a washhouse, currently in disuse.
