Church of San Salvador de Ferreiros

The church in Ferreiros is Romanesque, built in the second half of the 12th century with later improvements in the facade and most of the elevation north of the nave.
It has a single rectangular nave with gable roof. The apse is rectangular, narrower and higher than the nave, with a triumphal arch bent into sharp edge, which rests on impost of cymation moulding. There is a small window of semicircular arch at the front with a wide opening inside. The main door is a semicircular arch of voussoirs. In the upper part of the façade there is a rectangular window. A belfry crowned the façade. At the eaves, the corbels are smooth and geometric. Its arched South Gate is hidden by a pentagonal tympanum on quoins with geometric motifs. The interior retains some Baroque sculptures of the 18th century, such as Saint Blaise, Ecce Homo and the Blessed Virgin.
On the left of the apse, you can see wall paintings that represent the mysteries of the Annunciation of the Virgin of the 15th or 16th century.
To reach the church, we leave from the Town Hall in Puebla de Brollón, which is located in the avenue “Avenida de Galicia”. From here, we take the road to Saa and once we reach this village, we will turn left and will arrive to the village of Ferreiros in about ten minutes.
