Sgraffito ‘O Camiño das Estrelas’ (Rairos, A Pobra do Brollón)

Newly created sgraffito with a traditional technique, located in the old smithy of Rairos (A Pobra do Brollón), along the Winter Way of the Camino de Santiago. The main focus of the work is a labyrinth with several representative features.

Labyrinths have held considerable symbolic value since ancient times and have two different interpretations: a single-path labyrinth, symbolising the straight path of perfection and knowledge; and the labyrinth of multiple paths, symbolising becoming, our unwritten destiny... which is ultimately a symbol of the path of life.

Based on these two conceptions of the labyrinth, and considering the importance of the Camino de Santiago, this proposal establishes the pilgrim as a representative element of universal humanity and its search for knowledge in its multiple forms.

An intentional combination of the traditional sgraffito technique with a contemporary design, in O Camiño das Estrelas (The Way of the Stars), the artists worked from this conceptual basis to generate a striking composition, with geometry as the focal point.

This intervention was part of Pacto pola Paisaxe na Ribeira Sacra 2020–2022.
