Garabullo Rock Mount and Fondós Waterfall

Natural areas

This is a large rock formation with a waterfall on one side, dropping into the river Fondós before it meets the river Miño.

In this natural area the vegetation, of holm oaks and cork oaks, strawberry trees, sage and rosemary bushes, forms a Mediterranean wood unique to the area.

For a long time, this uniquely beautiful place was the subject of numerous legends. The most popular legend tells how, in the days when witches were roaming around, the Ribeira Sacra was protected by its numerous churches and chapels, except for one place, the Garabullo rock, on top of which the witches used to stop and rest.
