Itinerario de Interés Paisajístico San Fiz - Os Peares

SAN FIZ - OS PEARES

This Itinerary of Landscape Interest runs along the roads that follow the course of the Miño river on both banks, in a route of about 40 kilometres marked by the beauty of the landscape.

We start in San Fiz de Asma (Chantada) with spectacular panoramic views of the cultivation of vines on terraces, which downstream are mixed with lush forests of oak, chestnut, pine and strawberry trees. The landscape is completed by cherry trees and other fruit farms and orchards, making this territory a mixture of wild nature and human use.

We can also see large rocky massifs and small streams that flow into the Miño, sometimes forming beautiful waterfalls. And all of this is dotted with small riverside villages, which conserve the charm of traditional constructions and maintain an important historical heritage, such as the churches of Santa María de Nogueira de Miño, Santo Estevo de Chouzán or San Xoán da Cova.

The route ends in Os Peares, the place where the Miño and Sil rivers meet, and which paradoxically belongs to two provinces and four municipalities. Here we can see great engineering works, such as the Os Peares dam, the railway bridge or the viaduct of the N-120 national road.
