The Árbol y Columna Mural

Street Art

The artist who created the Árbol y Columna (Tree and Column) mural intended it to be a cultural cosmology reflecting the richness of the legends, history and heritage of the people living in the region.

Aesthetically, the mural plays with its medium, a concrete water tank, to highlight the idea of a tree or classical column in which the tree canopy or column capital would be the surrounding landscape and the trunk or shaft the iconography of the area: historically important people, symbolism of the castreña culture (Castro culture), Roman presence in the area, unique natural elements such as cabaleira stone, etc.

Artwork by Javier Carrera in 2022, commissioned through the Pacto Pola Paisaxe na Ribeira Sacra.

Don't miss!

There are also two other murals to visit in San Clodio. Along the road named Rúa do Pociño, visitors will surely come across the first of the Joyas de la Ribeira Sacra (Jewels of Ribeira Sacra) series of murals by the artist Mon Devane, which represent the regional importance of cherry cultivation. Abraham Caride’s La Pesca (The Fish) mural is located on the riverside promenade.
