There are a wide network of low- to medium-difficulty trails in the area which, although not officially accredited by the Galician Mountaineering Federation [Federación Galega de Montañismo (FGM)] are well signposted and widely used. Some examples:

SEQUEIROS ROUTE (A Pobra de Trives) - 3.14 km – Circular
From the village of Pena Folenche, very close to the viewpoint, this trail passes through chestnut woods to the old sequeiros, traditional drying houses where chestnuts were prepared for conservation and storage throughout the winter.

SENDERO GARAMBULLO HIKING TRAIL (Carballedo) – 7 km – Linear
Starting from the village of Castro, very close to the municipal capital, this path crosses forests and riverside landscapes to the Penedo do Garabullo viewpoint, an impressive panoramic viewpoint over the Miño River.

Through forests, stone bridges and old mills, this trail leads to the modest Dorelle Waterfall, whose 12-metre cascade is in all its splendour during the rainy and thawing seasons.

Stroll through the riverside forests and discover the river fauna, gain an understanding of hydraulic engineering and its historical role or climb up to the viewpoints of the Chaira Mountains. This trail is also a way to discover how the Loña River is used as a sustainable energy source for the economic and social development of the municipality.

The trail leads to an impressive 40-metre waterfall, one of the most beautiful in the area. The spectacular Castro de Marce viewpoint at the end of the trail provides a naturally stunning vista over the Miño.

A trail experience to relish with all your senses. Along the way, visitors will spot landscapes such as vineyards carved into the slopes of the Miño, the famous Castro Candaz (river level permitting) or different examples of sgraffito work.

SIL CANYON GATEWAY ROUTE (Xunqueira de Espadanedo) – 16 km – Circular
Starting from the monastery of Sta Mª de Xunqueira de Espadanedo, this trail wends along forest paths through chestnut, oak, birch and pine trees to the top of Mount Meda, with stops at town council's resources such as the neveiro or the viewpoints of Val do Medo and Campo do Eirado.
