Parada de Montes Architectural Complex

In this village in the Courel mountains, you will see popular mountain architecture, with terraced houses and overhanging roofs to keep in the heat and make life easier on snowy days. In this manner, the narrow streets were protected from bad weather and the inhabitants could continue working and protect their tools.
When it was necessary to extend the houses, every small space was important as the village is on very rocky terrain and the sparse fertile land was used for growing crops. So the extensions were added onto the upper floor, almost turning the streets into tunnels.
In Parada de Montes is the church of Santa Inés, built in 1895, with a notable presbytery that is taller than the main nave. Inside is a neoclassical altarpiece originally in the convent of the Poor Clares in Monforte de Lemos.
