Pena do Pobre Viewpoint

Here, there is the famous "best bench in the Ribeira Sacra”.

Below is the Santo Estevo boat jetty and the back of the Santo Estevo dam, which houses one of the two hydroelectric plants on the river Sil as it winds through the Ribeira Sacra.

To visit this viewpoint it is necessary walk. There are two paths:

First one from Alberguería. Starts near the graveyard of the village and yo will walk 1.6 km to get to the two viewpoints, first the Pé do Home viewpoint and then, a little further on, the Pena do Pobre. This path is longer that the second one but much easier. We recommend this one.

The second one starts on the road that runs from Loureiro to the Santo Estevo boat jetty. At km post 2.4, a path approximately 1 km long leads to the Pena do Pobre viewpoint, and from there it runs uphill to Pé do Home. The path is quite steep.
