Piago Bridge

Stone arch bridge built in the mid-18th century, when laying the OU-536 between the towns of A Rúa and Ourense.
It is located at kilometre 64.5 in a narrow area of the valley of the Navea River, which separates the municipalities of A Pobra de Trives and San Xoán de Río, where the height of its enormous semi-circular arch stands out, designed to bridge the height difference between the two points on the road.
The narrow bridge could only accommodate one vehicle, so after a series of construction works, a new, modern viaduct was built at the end of the last century, rendering the old Piago Bridge unusable. It was thus hidden and forgotten in the wilderness in the Navea valley.
