"Pilgrim on the Winter Route" Mural

Street Art

This mural is located in the centre of Quiroga, on the façade of a large brick building that had become exposed when an adjacent building was demolished. This work by the artist Mon Devane is a nod to the pilgrims who pass through the town on their way to Santiago de Compostela.

The town of Quiroga is notable for the number of beautification initiatives its local entities and associations have launched during the last few years. The aim has been to improve the visual impact of certain constructed elements found in the town. The first mural was painted in 2015, sponsored by the Ribeira Sacra Tourism Consortium as part of the project "A Touch of Colour in Ribeira Sacra". Today all of these works can be visited by following a walking route for tourists, known as “Art in the Air” (“Arte no Ar” in Galician).

Date created: September 2021

This initiative is part of Line of Activity 2 of the Ribeira Sacra Sustainability Plan, and it is jointly funded by the Spanish Secretariat of Tourism, the Galician Tourism Agency, and the Ribeira Sacra Tourism Consortium.
