Piñeira Medicinal Mineral Water Source

In Piñeira, now an abandoned village in the parish of O Burgo, is a medicinal mineral water spring of the same name, which warns visitors of its presence with a strong smell of sulphur.
In the 20th century it became quite famous, and it is said that wealthy families from the city of Ourense spent seasons in Castro Caledelas to drink its waters.
Traditionally, the Piñeira spring water was used mostly to treat digestive tract ailments, although it is also recommended for rheumatism and skin diseases.
The sulphurous medicinal mineral water comes out at a temperature of 12º C and was declared of pubic interest in 1892.
