"Tales of the Way" Mural

This work represents a visual, aesthetic, and historical investigation of the folklore and cultural traditions associated with the Way of St James (Camino de Santiago), expressed in the form of a mural.
Its theme is focused on the origins of the pilgrimage that leads to the tomb of the apostle James. On one side of the building, the mural shows how the constellation Canis Major would guide pilgrims towards Santiago de Compostela (a name derived from the Latin phrase Campus Stelae, or "field of stars"), which is seen here above the fields of Ribeira Sacra. The other side of the building depicts stories and legends such as "The Miracle of the Cockerel and Hen" and "The Groom and the Scallops".
This work was created by Espacio Matrioska in 2021, as part of the Ribeira Sacra Landscapes Agreement.
