Roman Gold Mining Interpretation Centre (CIMAR)

Opened in 2022, the CIMAR is Galicia’s first Roman mining museum.
The museum is located within a geocamping site next to the Sil River in the town of San Clodio, and forms part of the Courel Mountains UNESCO Global Geopark network, together with the Quiroga Geological and Ethnographic Museum and the Meiraos Cave Museum in the neighbouring town of Folgoso do Courel.
The CIMAR has three interconnected exhibition rooms. Museum visitors will get insights into the different gold mines in the area, and the various techniques used by the Romans to mine gold.
