Village of Outeiro

WARNING: No vehicles of any sort can be taken onto the streets of the village. There is a designated parking area situated on the right, on an esplanade, immediately after passing a well.
The houses of Outeiro village cling to each other down the pronounced slope to the river Soldón, forming a very evocative, almost medieval knot of streets.
The river Soldón is well used, with flour mills, a number of forges and even a generator that provided electricity to the houses in the village in the second half of the 20th century, up to 1972.
Mr Joaquín was in charge of operating the generator every day from dusk to dawn, as the electricity was only used at night and each resident paid a fixed sum, based on the number of light bulbs in the house.
