Sgraffito in Casa do Carteiro (Quiroga)

Refurbishment has been carried on a sizeable, age-old dwelling in San Miguel de Montefurado (Quiroga).
This decoration includes two road-facing façades of interest, made of clay renderings over slate. One decorated with lenticular sgraffito, the other with false parpens and a strip with designs on the eaves.
Notable in the surrounding area is the large parish church, an example of rural Baroque style with foreign influences. A place of transit on the Winter Route to Santiago de Compostela, an emerging itinerary.
An accessible location, around 600 metres from the N-120 road (between Monforte de Lemos and Ponferrada); a place which can be seen from the road, in the village of Montefurado, and which welcomes visitors at one of the entry points to the Ribeira Sacra.
Don't miss!
Nearby, we can visit Montefurado tunnel: a renowned example of Roman engineering.
