Sgraffito in San Lourenzo de Barxacova (Parada de Sil)

In the municipality of Parada de Sil, there are numerous examples of buildings decorated with chamfered edges and sgraffito. In the work, the traditional technique and aesthetics of facing using limestone from the area (more specifically, from San Paio de Abeleda monastery) was applied.

Complete restoration of building using the traditional sgraffito technique. The building is located in the car park at the entrance to the necropolis and the early mediaeval San Vítor de Barxacova chapel: one of the largest mediaeval necropolises in the north-west of the Peninsula. Possibly a monastic settlement, it was originally a possession of San Lourenzo de Barxacova monastery.
