As Penas de Matacás Viewpoint

The lookout point is at an altitude of over 500 metres and is, as its name suggests, situated on the Peñas, or rocks, of Matacás. From here there are some impressive views of the Sil Gorge.

This stretch of the river Sil forms a natural boundary between the provinces of Lugo and Ourense so that, from the north side of the lookout point, to your right, you can see the vineyards of the sub-region of Amandi, in Lugo province, while to your left are the banks of the river Sil in Abaleda, in the province of Ourense.

Below are the boat jetties of Ponte do Sil, in Monforte de Lemos, and Abeleda, in Castro Caldelas, from where the river trips can be taken through the wine growing region of the Sil Gorge.
