Chantada's wine fair

Festivals

This is traditionally the first wine-related event of the year in Ribeira Sacra.

First held in 1983, it kicks off the wine event and festival calendar in Ribeira Sacra. Together with the Amandi and Quiroga festivals, these are Ribeira Sacra’s longest-running and first wine-growing ventures to promote the importance of our wines and are now considered to be the prelude to the ‘wine of the land’ (vino de la tierra) quality seal, first secured in 1991, and then the subsequent Designation of Origin seal, secured in 1996.

Unlike other wine festivals, organisers emphasise traditional popular wine tastings, where the public decides which wines are the best at each edition.
